Singleton Bypass Field Trip

When:  Nov 26, 2025 from 08:30 AM to 01:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  Australasia Chapter

The Singleton Bypass is the largest road infrastructure investment in Singleton's history.

Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd was awarded a design and construction contract in November 2023 and construction commenced in mid-June 2024. The project is expected to be completed by late 2026.

The Australian Government has invested $560 million and the NSW Government $140 million to build the Singleton Bypass.

The eight kilometre bypass will improve travel times, freight efficiency and safety for local and interstate motorists.

This small group field trip is an opportunity to inspect this iconic project, its construction and erosion and sediment control management.

To date the project has installed all 435 bridge girders and poured 62 of 78 (over 2.4km) of bridge decks. Over 480,200m3 of earthworks have been undertaken as part of the construction of the 8km long bypass.

Tour participants will observe practical applications of erosion and sediment control measures implemented on an active earthworks and bridge construction site. The visit will highlight current strategies used to manage environmental impacts during large-scale infrastructure development.
