The NSW ESC demonstration and training facility supports research, education, and innovation by demonstrating current ESC practices, products, and techniques. Its primary goal is to enhance skills and knowledge across the industry.
This training and demonstration site is the first of its kind in NSW and is supported through the Turf Industry Storm and Flood Recovery project, jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments.
The objective of the day is to demonstrate that erosion control is significantly more effective than sediment control. This will be achieved through the utilisation of test plots at the NSW ESC demonstration and training facility, where the effectiveness of various erosion and sediment control techniques in minimising soil erosion and sediment runoff will be compared.
Additionally, there will be live demonstrations illustrating the application of different products.
The site features •10 rainfall simulated erosion and sediment trial bays •A drainage channel
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Understand the Principles of Erosion and Sediment Control Participants will be able to explain why erosion control is more effective than sediment control and identify the key differences between the two approaches.
- Evaluate ESC Techniques and Products Participants will gain the ability to assess the effectiveness of various erosion and sediment control techniques through observation of live demonstrations and rainfall-simulated trial bays.
- Apply Best Practice Methods in Real-World Scenarios Participants will develop practical skills to implement current ESC practices and products, informed by evidence from comparative test plots and drainage channel demonstrations.
