IECA Australasia is excited to invite you on a tour of the O Mahurangi – Penlink project. The new two-lane road and shared walking and cycling path will improve travel times between Whangaparāoa and wider Auckland, while creating a more resilient and flexible transportation network.

The project has a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and takes its impact on local flora and fauna seriously.

Many impressive milestones have been achieved in its first year:

  • Moved 60,000 cubic metres of material throughout the 7km project area.
  • Rehomed 300 critters away from the project, including 164 lizards and 136 freshwater fish.
  • Installed 16 sediment control devices, including sediment retention ponds and decant earth bunds across two sites.
  • Prep work for the construction of the Wēiti River crossing is underway, the first of six bridges across the project.
  • Begun ecological and geotechnical works across the 7km site.

Join the O Mahurangi – Penlink team on 22nd September to see how they’re creating a more sustainable and well-connected future for New Zealand.

We would like to thank the O Mahurangi Penlink Alliance for helping to make this field tour possible, comprising Waka Kotahi, HEB, Fulton Hogan, Aurecon and Tonkin Taylor plus mana whenua and a special mention to the environmental team on site.

We encourage attendees to car pool as parking onsite is very limited. Location is: 1697 Ara Wēiti Road, Stillwater, 0794, the site office is SAP 3 (on left hand side of road) but there is a carpark on the right hand side.

A light lunch is included, please bring your reusable water bottle.

Full PPE is required – long trousers, hard hat, high vis (orange), steel cap lace up boots, safety glasses.
