IECA Australasia, in collaboration with the City of Gold Coast, is pleased to invite you to an exclusive field workshop and site tour of the Coomera River Foreshore Stabilisation Project.
This timely visit offers a unique opportunity to compare sections of the foreshore that have been successfully restored with areas that remain vulnerable to erosion, providing valuable insights into the challenges and benefits of large-scale riverbank rehabilitation.
The Coomera River Foreshore Stabilisation Project is a nature-based riverbank restoration initiative designed to protect the Coomera River from erosion, improve resilience to wave action and boat wash, support mangrove regeneration, and enhance the long-term health of the estuary. Building on the success of an internationally recognised pilot project completed at Damian Leeding Memorial Park in 2018, the project is helping to safeguard valuable parklands while strengthening habitat for local wildlife and improving water quality.
The current stage of works is being delivered at Regatta Waters Parklands from June to August 2026. Construction includes the installation of log-piling and vegetation buffers to stabilise the foreshore and prepare the area for future community use. Future works are planned to extend the stabilised riverbank further east at Damian Leeding Memorial Park, creating a longer and more resilient stretch of shoreline.
Delivered through the QCoast2100 program, the project is funded by the Queensland Government and delivered by the Local Government Association of Queensland.
